The city is a small rural town with about 6,500 inhabi- tants, but with an extraordinary range of international dishes. You can pick of nearly 40 restaurants from good Bavari- an cuisine and the local traditional Zoigl- beer, to cuisines all over the world, mainly located in the Neue and Alte Amberger Strasse. Shoppers will find there special stores and service providers and everyday necessities. An address for shoppers is also the Bahnhofstrasse with its special store centre. The joint celebration at the annual German-American Volksfest and a plenty of events in the city offer many opportunities for the two cultures to get to know each other. Also, the German-American KONTAKT Club and the German-American Community Council (DAGA) support the cultural and social exchange. The city’s proximity to the Natural Park Noerdlicher Oberpfaelzer Wald and the Czech-Bavarian Geopark offers a variety of activities for outdoor enthusiasts.
